tea anyone???

one of my girlfriends has decided to host a tea party the saturday before mother’s day. great idea, right? well, see, the thing is she wants us all to wear HATS. oh, the horror. she’s said to me a kazillion times, “i’m not talking about those old lady hats…i’m talking about something really fly!”

yeah, okay.

see, even though i don’t get out much these days, i still consider myself more of a cocktail party kinda girl than a tea party kinda girl. i’ve never been the extra frilly type so the thought of wearing a dress (which i don’t have a problem with at all) and a freaking HAT, kinda flips me out a bit. like where do you even find a cute hat these days?? especially one that doesn’t look like you’re (a) trying to win some sorta big-hat-baptist-church-lady-contest or (b) are a full-fledge member of the red hat society? now granted, there are some cute hats out there…i actually own quite a few. i love fedoras, i own a black wool cloche, a tweed trillby, have a few funky knit hats, baseball caps, a couple bucket hats, straw hats…oh honey, i do hats, but a tea hat?? don’t have a one.

so here’s what i’ve come up that i actually like. don’t have a darn clue what i would wear with any of them…and they don’t exactly say “tea”, but hey, neither do i. even though i love to drink the stuff.
