sitting at saturn’s table…

i was recently invited to a saturn event in clarendon, virginia at setto bello. jill lajdziak, the general manager of saturn, was our host for the evening and talk about a woman with moxie… jill’s been in her position since 1999 and is responsible for the brand’s sales, service, and marketing operations. she’s been with general motors for over 25 years.

there was a lot of discussion about saturn, of course, and i learned a few things i didn’t know about the vehicles. i figured i’d shared my brand spanking new knowledge with you.

first up…did you know that you can have a saturn delivered to your home or office for a test drive? all you need to do is fill out a little information on saturn’s site to get the ball rolling. now is that customer service or what?

did you know (and jill told us this) that when an accident occurs there are actually three accidents that happen? the vehicle hits either another vehicle or a tree or lampost or local 7-11… you get the picture. then the driver’s body hits the steering wheel. and then the driver’s organs are shifted and they bump each other all around. jill said that saturn takes all of these things into consideration when they’re creating new safety features.

did you know that saturn has been around for like 20 years?? geez louise, i’m getting old. i remember when this puppy first came out.

did you know that saturn actually has two hybrid vehicles? yep, the 2008 vue green line hybrid and the 2008 aura green line hybrid?

did you know that if you happen to live in detroit and you work for saturn you won’t get fired for driving another brand vehicle but you’d be pretty stupid to do so because of your employee discount?

did you know that bon jovi drives a saturn? i sure as heck didn’t. not that i know too much about the man anyway.

did you know that there are saturn clubs? oh yeah, folks out there are definitely excited about this vehicle and if you are too, then go ahead and be down at my saturn.

so yep, that’s what i learned.

oh, and that the tiramisu classico (mascarpone cheese mousse, lady fingers soaked in espresso coffee and cocoa cake) at setto bello is pretty darn tasty, but the spuma di cioccolato bianco con pistacchio (white chocolate mousse with pistachio) is just not my thing.
